What Exams To Take For Studying In The Usa?

After deciding the USA as the center to study abroad, you need to write entrance exams for getting into any of the universities or colleges. Let’s know some of them now,
1. SAT

Students planning for the under graduation in the USA, need to take the Scholastic Aptitude Test commonly known as SAT. It is conducted by the College Board, a non-profit organization which provides memberships to different institutions in the USA. The test fee for students can be $46 for only SAT and $60 for SAT with an essay. Additional Non-US Region fee is applicable for students from other countries. The exam has three sections, reading comprehension, math and writing/essay each having a score of 800. So it’s written for a total of 2400 out of which getting 1800 with no section less than 600 is considered a good score and can gain you entry into most of the universities.

2. TOEFL

This exam is required to be taken by almost all the international students applying for the undergraduate and masters education. Test Of English as a Foreign Language commonly known as TOEFL is conducted by Educational Testing Service (ETS) based in New Jersey, USA. Although other countries like Canada and Singapore sometimes accept this exam, it’s a primarily taken in the USA. The test has sections like listening, writing, speaking, and reading with a maximum score of 120. Getting a score anywhere above 90 is considered a good enough score to get into most of the college. The registration will cost you US$170.

3. GMAT

Students who consider joining any of the management courses in business schools opt for this exam. It’s conducted by the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and is known as Graduate Management Admission Test commonly abbreviated as GMAT. It has Math and English in it to test the logical and analytical skills. The sections include Verbal and quantitative reasoning, analytical writing and integrated reasoning section. The maximum score is 800 (you get 200 for just appearing to take the exam) out of which anything above 650 is considered a decent enough score to apply for most of the top business schools in the USA. The examination course will be US$250.

4. GRE

Graduate Record Examinations are generally known as GRE also is conducted by ETS, which conducts SAT. Students who want to gain admissions into non-business schools opt for this exam. The sections include verbal and quantitative reasoning and analytical writing section which have a max score of 340. Most of the top colleges and universities expect students to have a little above of 310 to get admissions. It costs you US$195 to take the test.

5. AP

Advanced Placements Exam commonly known as AP has general higher level university subject. It has at least 34 different university subjects and is take by secondary school student to get a taste of what university studies feel like. It’s graded on a scale of 5 in each individual subject and any grade above 3 is considered good enough to get into the universities of USA. The fee for each AP exam for international students is US$124.
